Pizza for WA’s latest multimillionaires

A Coogee couple have celebrated their $2.8 million Saturday Lotto Division One win from the weekend with takeaway pizza.

Their ticket, purchased from Hampton Road Lottery Centre and News in South Fremantle, is now worth $2,819,816.

“We knew we’d won something but not this much!” the winners said.

“It wasn’t until a Lotterywest official confirmed the news that we realised it was more than $2.8 million.”

The couple said retirement was looking more comfortable knowing they no longer needed to worry about bills.

From now, every profit Lotterywest makes from jackpots, draws and tickets, excluding statutory grants, will go directly into a newly created COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Meanwhile a Hamilton Hill couple who stayed true to the same birthday numbers for more than 35 years has landed another Lotto windfall.

The couple bought their Saturday Lotto ticket worth $1.3 million, from Hamilton Hill Newsagency, for the draw held on 21 March.

The couple in their 60s said it wasn’t the first time these birthday numbers had paid off.

“We managed to win Division Two with the same numbers around 35 years ago and did say that one day we’d win the big one.”

WA’s tally of Division One winners has now reached 22. These winners have shared in more than $28 million in prizes.
