Perth's latest millionaires forgot they bought a Monday Lotto ticket

One Perth couple are now millionaires after buying a Monday Lotto ticket on a ‘whim’.

The couple admitted they don’t usually play Monday Lotto, so much so they forgot they had a ticket in the draw.

“I heard about a win in Pearsall on Facebook and I knew my wife had been to the shops there,” the winner said.

”I asked her ‘did you buy a ticket on Monday?’ she said no course not, it was Monday.”

When the woman remembered she had purchased a Slikpik 30 Monday Lotto ticket on a whim, the couple checked the numbers to discover an even bigger surprise.

“I don’t know what prompted me to buy a Monday ticket, I never do, but what a great decision,” she said.

“We tried to go for dinner to celebrate but we could barely eat, barely drink and can hardly sleep.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said it was fantastic to welcome the couple to the winner’s room after almost a month without a Division One win.

“So far this year, all claimed Division One prizes have been from Slikpiks,” she said.

“Last year more than 70 per cent of Division One winning tickets were thanks to system generated numbers.”

WA players have another chance to win in Tuesday’s $40 million OZ Lotto draw.

Tickets are available in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App until 6pm Thursday.
