Milk run delivers mechanic $100K win

A Lesmurdie mechanic plans to travel around Western Australia after winning $100,000 on his $20 Diamond Dazzler Scratch’n’Win ticket.

The ticket was sold from Lesmurdie Guardian Pharmacy and News and was bought as an afterthought when the man headed to the shops for milk.

“I had forgotten to buy some for my breakfast, and I knew I had a lotto ticket to cash in . . . so, I bought the milk and a few scratchies,” the man said.

“I reckon I got halfway through my breakfast before I realised that one of my tickets was a $100,000 winner.”

Aside from travel and paying off his mortgage the man, who immediately came to Lotterywest HQ to claim his prize, said he was really looking forward to going home to finish his coffee.

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said that she loved hearing about these sliding door moments in the Winners Room.

“It’s quite amazing when you think about it,” she said.

“In this case if he had had milk already in his fridge at home, he would never have ventured out to buy more, check his lotto ticket and, as it turned out, a winning scratchie.”

Western Australians have more chances to win in this Saturday’s special $10 million event.

The last four times that this event has been run, Lotterywest has welcomed a new millionaire into the Winners Room.

Tickets are available for Saturday Lotto’s special $10 million event now until 6pm on draw day from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
