Gwelup celebrates a Saturday Lotto millionaire

The search is on for the owner of a winning Saturday Lotto ticket sold from The Lucky Charm Gwelup that is now worth $1.6 million.

The Western Australian ticket was the one of four winning tickets across the country that matched the numbers to a Division One prize on Saturday night. Other winning tickets were sold in New South Wales and Victoria.

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said WA’s winning ticket is not registered to a Lotterywest membership, meaning the ticketholder could still be completely unaware of their $1.6 million win.

“When a registered ticket matches the numbers to a Division One prize, the player receives a phone call first thing the next business day to share the good news about their win,” she said.

“We once called a player who was in the car with their whole family, including the family dog.

“When they found out they had won, the whole family started screaming in excitement, with even the dog joining in.

“Thankfully the owner of the ticket was in the passenger seat and able to catch their breath while the driver turned the car around and came straight to Lotterywest HQ to claim the prize.

“We always recommend registering your ticket to a Lotterywest membership to keep it safe, and to receive that exciting phone call if you do win a Division One prize.”

Saturday’s win takes WA’s Division One winner’s tally to 53 for 2025, with these players sharing in more than $92 million.

Thanks to WA players and retailers, a Lotterywest grant of $30,000 is supporting the City of Stirling with crisis and emergency relief to address the critical needs of women and children fleeing domestic violence in the area.

This Tuesday OZ Lotto is boosting prizes across divisions two to seven by 30 per cent in its Prize Boost Special Event for the $8 million draw.

Tickets are available until 6pm on Tuesday in-store, online, or via the Lotterywest App.
