Childhood mates join the club

Two young WA couples are preparing to set themselves up for the future following Saturday Lotto’s Superdraw win.

The childhood mates, from either side of the river, took out a share of the Superdraw Division One prize on 12 February with a Slikpik 18 Advance Play ticket, worth $2.5 million.

The electrician from south of the river and teacher from the north decided to form a Lotto club at the end of last year and have now secured a future for their growing families.

One of the mates bought the 10-week ticket online and just three weeks later, they are sitting on a cool $2.5 million prize.

“I was out buying bread on Sunday when I checked the Lotterywest app and saw that the line was all blue” said one of the mates.

‘Babe, I said, we’ve won!

“No one believed me when I told them.”

When asked what the two couples planned to do with their winnings, they said they would all sit on the winnings for a while and take a breather.

“One thing’s for sure, we’ll be working for joy from now on,” he said.

This win comes off the back of Saturday’s Set for Life Division Two win for two regional WA players from Geraldton and Esperance, who each won $4,000 a month for a year.

Lotterywest spokesperson Lisa Williams said it’s an exciting week to be playing lotto.

“Tonight’s Oz Lotto has jackpotted to $10 million, and Thursday’s Powerball has powered to a huge $80 million, so there are plenty of chances for WA players to win big,” she said.

Tickets for tonight’s OZ Lotto jackpot and Thursday’s $80 million Powerball jackpot are available until 6pm on draw days via Lotterywest in-store, online and via the app.
