Caravanning dreams come true for Powerball winner

An allied health worker in her 50s has come forward to claim a $500,000 share in last night’s winning Powerball syndicate, with an Australian road-trip on the horizon.

The winner purchased her ticket, which was part of a syndicate, from Major Luck Lottery Centre in Clarkson.

When asked how she discovered her win, the ticket holder said she had checked the Winning Numbers on her computer to match them against her ticket.

“Once I realised I’d won, I ran into the bathroom screaming where my husband was in the shower,” she laughed.

“He thought something was seriously wrong.

“It feels like I’m dreaming. I kept looking at the ticket to check the numbers again all night.”

After a six-month search for a second-hand caravan, the couple said they can now buy their dream caravan and plan on setting off to travel around Australia.

Lotterywest spokesperson Emma Rogers said the winning syndicate ticket was a Powerpik 7.

“A Powerpik is a great way to play Powerball because it automatically gives you the winning Powerball number,” Emma explained.

WA players have another chance to take home a Division One prize this weekend in Saturday Lotto’s special $10 million event.

Tickets are available until 6pm in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App.
