Boulder Powerball winners arrive at Lotterywest HQ

WA’s winner from the record-breaking $160 million Powerball win came into Lotterywest HQ this week with his 18 work mates whom he shared the ticket with.

The $160 million jackpot was the largest in Australian history and was shared between three Division One winners nationally, with each ticket worth more than $53 million.

Boulder Newsagency and Lotto sold the winning Division one ticket in WA.

The ticket holder explained this was the first time the group had bought a ticket together and that they had seen a rainbow appear over the mine site pit at 5.30pm on the evening of the draw.

“We saw the rainbow land in the pit right behind us and thought that’s our pot of gold for tonight!”

Initially the group thought they had won Division Two and were in disbelief when the ticket holder announced their ticket was a Division One winner.

“He’s a big joker, so no one believed him.”

“It took a bit of convincing before it started to sink in that we’d won,” a group member said.

The group, who work together in Boulder, have a range of plans for their winnings, including sharing it with family, early retirement, holidays and purchasing a caravan.

“I am looking forward to booking a holiday to Israel and Slovenia next year,” one group member said.

Store Owner Michael Saville said he couldn’t have wished for a better result.

“To help 18 Boulder families is fantastic,” he said.

The next chance for WA players to win big is Tonight’s $20 million Powerball.

Tickets are available up until 6pm this evening and can be bought in-store, online or via the app.
