Bigger prizes and more winners with OZ Lotto game change

Changes are coming for OZ Lotto with bigger prizes and more winners.

The enhanced game will see the jackpot increase from $2 million to $3 million and prizes across Divisions 2 to 7 also increasing.

The new game is set to launch on Tuesday 17 May 2022, subject to regulatory approval.

Game changes

  • Seven numbers will be drawn from a barrel of 47 numbers rather than 45.
  • There will be an additional supplementary number, increasing the supplementary numbers drawn from two to three.
  • The base week Division One prize pool will increase from $2 million to $3 million.
  • The average prize across Divisions 2 to 7 will increase.
  • The price of an entry into OZ Lotto will increase by 10 cents per game (plus retailer commission).

Lotterywest spokesperson Lisa Williams said these are the first changes to the game since 2005.

“Oz Lotto has been one of Australia’s favourite lottery games for the past 28 years, delivering multi-million dollar jackpots every Tuesday,” Ms Williams said.

“Players have told us that they want to see bigger prizes and the new game will deliver, with the base jackpot set to increase from $2 million to $3 million.”

“WA players love the big jackpots. We’ve already seen one ecstatic Western Australian taking out a $25 million share of the $50 million OZ Lotto jackpot this year.”

“The new game will provide more winning combinations and an improved chance of winning any prize.”

“It’s not just our players that win - profits raised from Lotterywest games go towards our grant program for the benefit of the whole WA community.”

“Last year we were able to deliver $313.4 million to the WA community via almost 600 grants.”

In the new game, 7 Numbers and 3 Supplementary Numbers will be drawn from the barrel of 47 numbers each week.

To win division one, players need seven winning numbers in a single game panel, while a prize can be won by matching as few as three winning numbers and one supplementary number in a single game.

Regular players can continue using their same favourite numbers, or they can choose from two additional numbers (46 and 47) should they wish to update them.

Tickets for the new OZ Lotto game (subject to regulatory approval) will go on sale from 9.00am on Wednesday 11 May.
