Lotterywest grant for Goldfields rehab centre

Premier Mark McGowan today announced almost $84,000 in funding for Goldfields Rehabilitation Services Inc. which provides crucial support for people overcoming drug and alcohol misuse.

The funding, administered through Lotterywest, will purchase two new commuter vehicles.

The vehicles will transport clients and staff to medical appointments, recreational and social activities and community outreach programs - all of which are critical to recovery.

The State Government has granted more than $500,000 in Lotterywest funding to support Goldfields Rehabilitation Services Inc.'s work in the local community.

The Premier visited the organisation today and commended their work in providing crucial support services in the region for more than 40 years.

Among other support, the organisation offers crucial services such as residential rehabilitation, housing, and sexual assault counselling.

Lotterywest is the only lottery in Australia where a portion of money raised from the sales of its games is distributed directly to the Western Australian community through grants.

Comments attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:

"Alcohol and other drug misuse directly and indirectly impacts six out of 10 people in the Goldfields community daily. It is a significant issue which affects our entire community.

"People who misuse drugs and alcohol require real and comprehensive support to overcome their drug issues and begin their journey towards health and wellbeing.

"By supporting organisations such as Goldfields Rehabilitation Services Inc. we're not only aiding individuals on their health journey, we're also backing those working on the frontline to make it happen.

"It's thanks to the sales efforts of Lotterywest retailers and those who play Lotterywest games, we're able to support organisations like the Goldfields Rehabilitation Services Inc. to continue their important work to enhance the quality of life for Western Australians."
