A South West man in his 40s visited Lotterywest HQ this morning to claim a $1 million Division One Millionaire Medley prize, thanks to the Lotto ticket he received for his birthday.
The winner’s partner purchased the Lotto ticket, now worth $1 million, earlier this month for the Millionaire Medley draw held on 6 August 2025.
The man said they had checked the ticket on the night and thought they had four numbers and had won a few thousand dollars.
“When we checked again the following day we realised we actually had all six numbers,” the winner said.
“I was in shock and kept saying to my partner, don’t be playing me babe.”
“This will make our life much easier.”
The couple celebrated their win with a few meals at a local café, and plan to purchase their first home together with their prize.
In more good news, Western Australian players should check their tickets after two WA tickets matched the numbers to a Division One prize on Saturday night.
The winning tickets were two of six across the country that matched the numbers to a Division One prize and are now worth more than $1 million each.
WA’s winning tickets were sold from Nextra Ellenbrook and through Lotterywest Play Online.
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said it had been a fantastic month for WA players.
“WA has celebrated six Division One prizes in August alone, and 55 in total since the start the start of the year,” she said.
“Those 55 players have shared more than $95 million in prizes this year, which is certainly something to smile about on this grey and stormy day in Perth.”
Thanks to WA players and retailers, a Lotterywest grant of $15,000 is supporting the Ellenbrook Multicultural Community Festival. The Festival, happening on Saturday 15 November 2025, will connect the local community through art and cultural activities.
This week’s $50 million Powerball jackpot gives WA players the chance to become a multi-millionaire.
Tickets for Powerball’s $50 million jackpot are available until 6pm on Thursday in-store, online, and via the Lotterywest App.
