A chance for a new WA record thanks to OZ Lotto

Western Australia could be celebrating a new record for 2023 following tonight’s $70 million OZ Lotto draw.

So far this year, two WA tickets have taken out an OZ Lotto Division One prize, a group of eight mates shared $30 million in April and a Wanneroo couple’s ticket from Hocking News took home $20 million in July.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said tonight’s draw has opened the door for a new OZ Lotto record.

“The biggest WA win for 2023 so far is a $40 million Powerball prize from Springs News back in March,” he said.

“If WA takes out tonight’s entire Division One prize, this will be our biggest win for the year.

“This massive prize comes after there were no Division One winners for the past eight OZ Lotto draws, however during that time Lotterywest has raised around $9.2 million for community grants.”

The $70 million prize is the biggest jackpot offered by OZ Lotto in more than four years and is the fourth biggest jackpot offered by OZ Lotto in the game’s 30-year history.

It’s also the second-biggest prize offered by any Australian lottery game this year – only surpassed by the $100 million Powerball draws in June and August.

WA players can purchase their OZ Lotto ticket in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App until 6pm draw day.
