What you need to know for Thursday’s $110M Powerball draw

Records

  • One winner would become the highest single entry win in Australian lottery history.
  • If WA produces one ($110 million) or one of two ($55 million) winners in Thursday’s $110 million Powerball it would be a record for the state.
  • The biggest win in WA Lotto history was when a Perth family took out the entire $50 million on Powerball in July 2015.
  • The Australian record for an individual winner is $107 million in January this year. It was won on Powerball by a Sydney woman.
  • 2nd highest -$70 million, Jan 2016 to a Queensland winner.
  • 3rd highest - $50 million to a WA winner in July 2015 and Canberra winner in May 2015.
  • On the day of draw 4pm-5pm is the busiest hour for purchasing tickets, it will peak at around 1176 tickets sold a minute, and we expect to sell more than 1 million tickets this week.

Ticket types, “hot” numbers and suburbs

  • A great way to play Powerball is with a Powerpik ticket. It gives you the winning Powerball number, thus increasing your chances of winning since you need the Powerball number to win Division One and five of the other nine divisions.
  • We expect to sell more than one million tickets in this draw.
  • Between July 2018 to June 2019, the most frequent winning numbers from Barrel A were:
    • 17 (drawn 20 times)
    • 2, 11, 20, 29 (drawn 14 times each) and
    • 4, 7 and 22 (drawn 13 times each).
    • Most frequent winning numbers picked from Barrel B (the Powerball) are 19 (drawn 6 times), 3 (drawn 5 times) followed by 7, 13 and 20 (drawn 4 times each)

      • A Powerpik 7 is $24.
  • Instore sales: 77% are Slikpiks, 22% of people choose their own numbers, about 3.5% of tickets are syndicates; 25% are system tickets (these can be Slikpiks or payslips).
  • In 2018-19, the most popular tickets were Slikpik 12, Slikpik 18, Powerpik 7 followed by System 8 and Slikpik 25.
  • ·         Top 10 Suburbs and Towns

Community

  • In 2018-19 financial year, Powerball raised around $84 million for the WA community
  • Between July 2007-June 2019, Powerball raised about $536 million for the WA community.
  • This week will see more than $7.3 million raised for the WA community.
