Wednesday Lotto millionaire ahead of WA Day long weekend

Western Australia has produced a mid-week millionaire with a $1 million winning ticket last night ahead of the WA Day long weekend.

The $1 million ticket was sold from Springs News in Bennett Springs.

Owner of Springs News, Milan Vuletich, said last night’s win was a welcome surprise for his store.

“We’ve sold three $1 million dollar tickets in just over a year now – with two in April and November last year and now, last night,” he said.

“We’re for sure in a lucky shopping centre.

“We’re pretty pleased with our track record and hope the good fortune helps one of our locals.”

The millionaire-making win comes after a winning weekend for WA, with two tickets worth over $790,000 sold in Carlisle and Karratha.

Both tickets remain unclaimed.

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said although it was two days until winter falls, the State was heating up with Lotto fever.

“Incredibly, we’ve had six Division One winners in May and these lucky locals have shared in more than $13 million.

“OZ Lotto is now at $40 million, so grab a ticket early before the long weekend rush.”

Last financial year, thanks to Lotterywest players, $723 million was given back to the Western Australian community through prizes and grants.

Lotterywest has recently supported three community groups in Lockridge and Beechboro with more than $35,000. This includes the Humpty Dumpty Toy Library in Lockridge with more than $9,000 which supports educational play equipment for the early childhood development of children in Beechboro and surrounding areas.
