Warnbro’s wake up wonder

26 November 2019

A Warnbro couple woke up on Sunday morning and before they even stepped out of bed, discovered they were more than half a million dollars better-off.

The couple in their 50s discovered their regular Saturday Lotto ticket had turned into almost $578,000.

“We checked the numbers in bed and discovered we had won, it was certainly a good wake up call,” the winner said.

The couple in their 50s have been regular Saturday Lotto players for the past 15 years.

The man said they decided to divert from routine and buy an extra ticket “for no particular reason”, and their choice paid off with one of the tickets delivering the life-changing Division One prize.

“We have come close before, but nothing like this!” he said.

The Lucky Charm in Baldivis sold the winning ticket.

Lotterywest spokesperson Jennie Fitzhardinge said Saturday Lotto continues to produce more WA Division One winners than any other game.

“So far this year out of 51 WA Division One winners 36 of them have been from Saturday Lotto,” Ms Fitzhardinge said.

“Thanks to Saturday Lotto more than $37 million has gone towards these Division One players.

“We’ve seen a range of Saturday Lotto winners in 2019, from workplace syndicates, young families and now to this lucky couple.”

Every year, Lotterywest supports more than 600 not-for-profit groups and local government authorities to deliver community-building initiatives all across Western Australia.

Players are encouraged to play responsibly.
