Bull Creek bachelor claims $1 million Lotto win

A Bull Creek bachelor will be rolling into the New Year as a millionaire, after claiming his $1 million prize from Monday night’s draw.

The man in his 60s, admitted he’d forgotten about the ticket, which had been sitting at home on a shelf in his study.

“I only checked the ticket because I’d heard on the news someone had won,” he said.

“I kept ticking off number after number on the ticket, until I ran out.

“I checked it 20 times before it sank in.

“I live by myself so all I could do was cry and thank my Mum, who’s passed, for looking over me.”

The man said he was between houses and the money would help him find a new place to live, as well as help his close mates and family.

“I’ve never had money behind me before!” he said.

“This gives me peace of mind.

“I’m going to visit my family overseas first, and help my friends and mates wherever I can.”

The million dollar ticket was sold from The Lucky Charm Bull Creek.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said the month of December had already produced six Division One winners, as we lead into the biggest Lotto event of the year - the $30 million Megadraw on Saturday 29 December.

“Last year WA produced almost 312,000 Megadraw winners, including five Division One winners who each took home over $1.4 million,” Ms Compagnone said.

“There’s only eight days left, so we encourage players to get their tickets early to avoid the last minute rush.

“You could be starting off 2019 by living your dreams, just like our winner today!” she said.

Tickets for the $30 million Megadraw are available until 6pm draw day from Lotterywest in-store, online or through the app.
