Two Division One prizes claimed with faith in lucky numbers

Numbers chosen 33 years ago delivered an Australind retired couple their $439,800 Division One Saturday Lotto prize from the weekend.

It was 33 years ago that the wife asked her husband and children to nominate their lucky numbers, with each family member allocated a few games on a 12 game ticket.

“I’ve been playing that same set on Lotto weekly ever since,” the wife said.

The couple said they had saved enough for their retirement, but the prize will make travel dreams come true for the wife who has been battling a serious illness for the last two decades.

“My illness makes it very difficult to travel long distances, but now we’ll be able to afford the extras to make an overseas trip more comfortable, and maybe one day I’ll finish ticking off my bucket list,” she said.

Meanwhile, a man from Hamilton Hill proved his mates wrong coming forward to claim the third and final Division One prize from the weekend’s draw.

“Every week I’d buy a ticket, making sure my favourite numbers 2 and 5 were somewhere in each,” he said.

“My mates would always tease me for playing, saying I’m only dreaming,” he said.

“Look who’s laughing now!”

The man plans to take holidays to Asia, get a new car, and help his four siblings with his new found fortune.

Will your lucky numbers be drawn in tonight’s $20 million Powerball and

$30 million Megadraw on 29 December 2018? Tickets are available until 6pm draw day from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
