The power of six: Maddington man collects sixth Division 1 Lotto win

Lucky seven might be the world’s favourite number but for one Maddington local the number six has taken pride of place after it was revealed he collected his sixth Division 1 Lotto win in just five years.

The man – aged in his 50s – was one of 12 Western Australian syndicate winners who shared in over $658,000 worth of Saturday Lotto prize money at the weekend.

“The secret is in syndicates,” the man said.

“Not only do I increase my chances of winning but the cost is shared among 12 of us so it’s a relatively cheap way to play,” he added.

The man estimates he has pocketed almost half a million dollars in prize money through his syndicate strategy.

“I’m not complaining about sharing at all,” the man said.

“Except with my wife,” he laughed.

Owner of Hutton Street Lottery Centre & Newsagency Sushie Govender said five of the six Division 1 wins experienced by the Maddington man were through tickets sold at her store.

“There must be something in the water so drink up and make sure you grab a ticket in tonight’s $40 million OZ Lotto jackpot,” Ms Govender laughed.

“It’s the equal third highest jackpot we’ve experienced so far this year and we’re expecting around 30,000 tickets to be churned out across the State in the hour leading up to the draw,” she added.

Ms Govender said across the six week jackpot roll, over $4.2 million had also been generated for the WA community.

Tickets in tonight’s $40 million OZ Lotto jackpot are available until 6pm from Lotterywest in-store, via Lotterywest membership online or by downloading the app.
