Search for Kalbarri winner heads south

A two week search for the owner of a winning Saturday Lotto ticket sold in Kalbarri has headed south.

A Bunbury man has come forward as the winner and said he went through a mixture of emotions after learning about the win worth more than $960,000.

“We heard a ticket from Kalbarri had won, so we got the paper, checked the numbers and discovered we had it,” The man in his 60s said.

“I thought to myself, I’ve never won Lotto before, I don’t know how to react.”

Sharing the prize with his family, home renovations and an international trip are now some of the plans the man will tick off his list, thanks to his Division One win.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said he was delighted to welcome the missing ticket holder into the Winner’s Room.

“September was a good run for our regional players, with two Division One winners across the month,” Mr Mooney said.

“We’re hoping we’ll be able to share the news of another WA winner after tonight’s $25 million OZ Lotto draw.

“So far this year, we’ve welcomed 43 WA Division One winners and we’d love to see this number grow.”

Thanks to Lotterywest players, a $599,421 grant has supported the City of Bunbury towards an extension of the Stirling Street Arts Centre and a playground at Sykes Foreshore.
