Once bitten twice shy for WA’s latest millionaire

It was a $500 mistake for a South Yunderup syndicate that’s helped them to a $1.5 million Saturday Lotto Division One win.

The ticket from Austin Lakes IGA, was one of three WA Division One prizes from last Saturday’s Megadraw - the others were sold from Summerfield News and Lotto in Girrawheen and Hoffmans 8th Avenue News in Maylands.

After overlooking to buy a ticket in a previous draw and missing out on a $500 prize, the syndicate made sure to never miss a draw.

“It’s been a 22-year journey,” she said.

“We didn’t stop because it would have annoyed me if our numbers ever came up.

“We missed one week, and we would have won $500.”

The State’s other two Megadraw tickets have also been claimed, the Maylands ticket was sold to a man in his 40’s, while the owners of the Summerfield News ticket wished to remain anonymous.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said Saturday Lotto will be hosting another special event this weekend.

“This weekend will offer a $10 million Division One prize on Saturday Lotto – double the usual estimated $5 million prize pool,” Ms Compagnone said.

“It’s been a fantastic start to 2021 thanks to Saturday Lotto and we would love to see this new year run continue.”

Tickets to Saturday’s special $10 million event are available from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app
