Most popular Powerball spots leading into $40 million jackpot

Lotto fever is surrounding Western Australia as the countdown to tonight’s $40 million Powerball jackpot is on.

More than 500 Lotterywest stores across the State are reporting a busy start to the day, with close to 400,000 tickets expected to be purchased by Western Australians participating in tonight’s jackpot.

“Sales will peak between 4pm and 5pm this afternoon when around 340 tickets a minute will churn from lottery terminals,” said Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone.

According to Lotterywest, some of the most popular suburbs local players are picking up their Powerball tickets include Perth, Morley and Mandurah.

“Both Perth and Mandurah are no stranger to recent Lotto luck, with each of the suburbs selling a combined four Division One winning tickets this year,” said Ms Compagnone.

“This included a ticket produced at The Mall Newsagency in Perth’s CBD in March which held a $20 million Powerball prize.

“This winning ticket was a 25 game Slikpik which will actually give you a 1 in 5.4 million chance of taking home tonight’s $40 million prize pool.”

Ms Compagnone said other popular ticket choices being purchased in the jackpot included a Powerpik 7 which costs just $24 and guarantees you the winning Powerball number.

So far this year, 42 WA players have taken home a Division One prize, sharing in almost $93 million.

Tickets for tonight’s $40 million Powerball jackpot are available until 6pm from Lotterywest instore, online or through the app.

When you purchase a Lotterywest ticket, all of WA wins with funds going back to local players in prizes and to the community in grants.

Over this jackpot roll thanks to players purchasing tickets from Lotterywest, $7.2 million has been raised to support the local community through our grants.
