Lotto win doesn’t stop 5am work wake-up call

After 15 years of playing the same numbers a Canning Vale couple’s persistence has paid off with a Saturday Lotto Division One prize.

The 48-year-old said he discovered the $393,000 win shortly after the Saturday Lotto draw earlier this month.

“We don’t normally check the numbers on Saturday night but we had a quiet weekend ,” he said.

“At first my wife thought we had five numbers, but we soon discovered we had six.”

Despite the life changing news the winner still woke at 5am for work on Sunday.

Lotterywest spokesperson Jennie Fitzhardinge said the win will hopefully inspire fellow WA players ahead of Saturday’s $20 million Superdraw.

“A common theme we see with our winners is that although they’re excited, they say they want to take time and assess their options before spending their winnings,” Ms Fitzhardinge said.

“Most of our winners say they will continue to work, but that now they have the chance to use their income in ways other than paying mortgage and bills.

“We’re hoping we can see this scenario happen for more WA players in this Saturday’s exciting $20 million Superdraw.”

By playing Lotterywest games you’re helping to raise money for hundreds of not-for-profit organisations in WA.

The past 12 months has seen more than $1.4 million go towards three Canning Vale organisations, including St Vincent De Paul Society and the Bengali Association of Western Australia.

Tickets for Saturday’s $20 million can be bought until 6pm on draw day from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.

Players are encouraged to play responsibly and spend only what they can afford.
