Lotto surprise for South Guildford man ahead of $40 million Powerball jackpot

A middle-aged man from South Guildford has come forward to collect almost $650,000 in prize money just one day before an incredible $40 million Powerball jackpot is offered.

Purchased through his Lotterywest membership online in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw, the man said his Division 1 Lotto win was a welcomed surprise that would allow him to take his first holiday in almost 25 years.

“After I pay off my mortgage, I’m going to do something for me,” he said.

“Maybe take a cruise for a few months to see a few corners of the world,” he added.

The latest win adds to Western Australia’s fast growing tally of Division 1 Lotto winners in 2018 which has now reached 12.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone said there was no sign of things slowing down with two exciting draws taking place over the next few days.

“After six weeks of jackpotting, Powerball will offer a $40 million prize pool tomorrow night – the second largest jackpot to be offered across the nation this year,” Ms Compagnone said.

“This will be followed by this weekend’s $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw,” she added.

Tickets are available until 6pm draw day from Lotterywest in-store, online or through the app.

When you play Lotterywest games, the money stays in WA. Both the Powerball jackpot roll and Saturday’s Superdraw are set to raise a combined $10 million to support WA.
