Karrinyup cashes in on $2 million Lotto prize

Western Australia is celebrating its 45th Division One winner of the year with a huge $2,034,570 Saturday Lotto prize scooped up over the weekend.

WA’s winning Division One Saturday Lotto ticket is one of two nation-wide to share in the over $4 million prize pool.

The unusually large Saturday Lotto prize is nothing new to Luke Ferrier, owner of Karrinyup News where the ticket was sold.

“When players win with us, they win big,” he said referring to a previous Superdraw Saturday win in 2013 where a $3 million prize was secured.

“My customers call me Lucky Luke and I’m a firm believer that there is no such thing as a bad set of numbers.

“Sometimes people think consecutive numbers are unlucky, but one of my customers has just become a multimillionaire with 21, 22 and 23 all in the draw.”

Over 75,531 other WA players picked up a prize in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw, including eleven Division Two winners who each collected $10,221.

Meanwhile a couple from Cannington have come forward to claim their $1 million prize from last week’s Monday Lotto.

After checking and rechecking the numbers, they didn’t get any sleep knowing they were now millionaires.

The couple plan to reveal their fortune to their children when on holiday together and said the life changing win would mean frequent family holidays, and continuing to support their favourite charities with a bit more.

The search continues for a Saturday Lotto winner from earlier this month whose ticket purchased from Lakers News, Lakelands is worth $441,295.

There is a draw everyday across all Lotterywest games including Saturday Lotto, Set for Life and OZ Lotto.

Tickets can be purchased until 6pm day of draw from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
