Kalbarri kick starts a history making Lotto week

A lucky Western Australian has kicked off the record breaking $150 million Powerball week; with a Saturday Lotto Division One win.

The winning ticket worth $960,296 was sold at Kalbarri News & Gift Centre.

Kalbarri News & Gift Centre owner Greg Morgan said his team was delighted to hear the news they’d sold WA’s only winning ticket over the weekend.

“It’s a busy time of year in Kalbarri and the big Powerball draw is certainly bringing people in the door,” he said.

“The winner could easily be a local or a tourist,” Greg said.

“We’ll all have to wait and find out who it is!”

With a good start to the week under WA’s belt, anticipation is only growing for Thursday night’s $150 million Powerball draw - the biggest Lotto jackpot in Australian history.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said the community support the record breaking Lotto week will generate for WA was a big win for community organisations state wide.

“Thanks to the support of WA players throughout this Powerball run, we're expecting to generate about $25 million for the community,” Mr Mooney said.

“It’s only through the support of WA players and our hard working retailers that this is possible.”

Lotterywest recently supported Seabrees Kids Care Inc with $20,000 to go towards new toys and equipment to support early childhood development and educational play for a childcare centre in Kalbarri.

Tickets can be purchased for Powerball’s $150 million draw until 6pm Thursday from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
