Joondalup tradie scoops $2 million Lotto win

A tradie from Joondalup has come forward to claim more than $2 million in Division 1 prize money from the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

The winning ticket was sold through a Lotterywest membership online and contributes to the 54th Division 1 win for Western Australia so far this year.

The man – who is in his late 30s – said he had just finished a 12-hour work day when he checked the Lotto results.

“The first thing that popped into my head when I’d realised we’d won was ‘I won’t have to work weekends anymore’,” the man said.

“I’ve been working six days a week – sometimes even seven days – for as long as I can remember,” he said.

“It’ll be great to be able to spend more time with my wife and the kids,” he added.

The man said he already had plans to ‘take it easy’ this weekend.

“Mate, the thought of hanging up my work belt tomorrow at 4pm and sleeping in on Saturday instead of getting up at 4.30am… it’ll feel like all my Christmases have come at once,” he laughed.

Lotterywest spokesperson Chloe Lawler said WA players have another chance at the Lotto dream with the last Saturday Superdraw for the year taking place on 28 October.

“With $21 million up for grabs, I’d encourage everyone to get in early and pick up a ticket for the Superdraw today,” Ms Lawler said.

“The draw is not only set to deliver thousands of WA winners – when you play with Lotterywest, a third of what you spend on tickets goes to supporting the local community,” she added.

Tickets for the $21 million Saturday Superdraw are available until 6pm on draw-day from Lotterywest in-store, via Lotterywest membership online or by downloading the app.
