Itchy palm leads to million-dollar Lotto win

Some say an itchy left palm can lead to money coming your way which is what happened to a Mandurah man and his million-dollar windfall.

The man, in his 60s, said he remembers having a scratchy palm the night before last weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

“I didn’t think anything of it at the time. When I checked my numbers online, I could see that I had six numbers, but no supps, so I ignored it,” the winner said.

“It then started to dawn on me that you only need six numbers to win but I still had to confirm it, so I Googled the draw and saw that there was one WA winner across the State and I thought ‘Oh my god, that’s me!’.”

Still slightly unconvinced, he kept the information from his wife until he called Lotterywest HQ for further confirmation.

“I spoke to a Lotterywest representative who said ‘Congratulations, you’ve won $928,000’. We went out to dinner that night and celebrated with an extravagant bottle of wine,” he said.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said that the next opportunity to win big was in next week’s $20 million Saturday Superdraw.

“The Superdraw falls on Halloween so it’s date you can’t forget,” he said.

So far this year, 62 WA players have taken home Division One prizes worth a combined $76 million.

Tickets for the $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw on 31 October are available until 6pm draw day from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.

This week is Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (19-25 October) and Lotterywest encourages all players to play responsibly. More information is available at www.gambleaware.com.au.
