Hot tips for Thursday’s $100 million Powerball draw

  • If a single WA entry wins the entire $100 million it would be a record for the state and the second highest single entry win in Australian lottery history.
     
  • The biggest prize in WA Lotto history was on Powerball when a Perth family took out the entire $50 million Division One prize in July 2015.
     
  • The Australian record for an individual winner is $107 million in January this year. It was won on Powerball by a Sydney woman.
     
  • 2nd highest -$70 million, Jan 2016 to a Queensland winner.
     
  • 3rd highest - $50 million to a WA winner in July 2015 and Canberra winner in May 2015.
     
  • Our busiest hour is expected to be between 4-5pm on Thursday where it’s estimated close to 1200 tickets will be sold a minute.
     
  • This is the third time Powerball has jackpotted to $100M or more this year.
     
  • We expect to sell more than 1 million tickets in this draw.

 
Ticket types and “hot” numbers

  • A great way to play Powerball is with a Powerpik ticket. It gives you the winning Powerball number, which increases your chances of winning since you need the Powerball number to win Division One and five of the other nine divisions. A Powerpik 7 is $24.
     
  • 2018-19 financial year saw more than 5.3 million WA winners who shared in $97.5 million in prizes.

     
  • Between July 2018 to June 2019, the most frequent winning numbers from Barrel A were
    • 17 (drawn 20 times)
    • 2, 11, 20, 29 (drawn 14 times each) and
    • 4, 7 and 22 (drawn 13 times each).
       
  • Most frequent winning Powerball numbers are 19 (drawn 6 times), 3 (drawn 5 times) followed by 7, 13 and 20 (drawn 4 times each)
