Christmas comes early: WA produces two Division 1 winners

Two lucky Western Australians will be lining their Christmas stockings with almost a million dollars each after the State produced two Division1 Saturday Lotto winners on the weekend.

It was revealed that one of the winning tickets was sold by Woolstores Lottery Centre & News in Fremantle and the other sold through a Lotterywest membership online.

The tickets, which remain unclaimed, are each worth $976,274 and mark the State’s 60th and 61st Division 1 wins for the year.

Store owner Rex Bassett said the Fremantle locals were already lining up past the door hoping all their Christmases have come at once.

“I feel like I’m the new Santa Claus!” he said.

“People are getting their tickets out and checking them twice, if you’ll pardon the pun,” he laughed.

“I’m hoping to deliver another Division 1 win in the Megadraw – now that would be a happy New Year,” he added.

With $30 million up for grabs in the Megadraw on Saturday 30 December, Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone said that the momentum is building as the big event draws closer.

“We all have our fingers and toes crossed that Western Australia will prove to be the lucky State once again,” Ms Compagnone said.

“Plenty of people have bought their tickets already for this popular draw and with $30 million on the line, you’ve got to be in it to win it,” she said.

“The Megadraw is not only set to deliver hundreds of thousands of WA winners – we also expect to generate almost $5.3 million for the WA community thanks to players purchasing tickets,” she added.

Tickets for the $30 million Saturday Lotto Megadraw are available until 6pm on draw day in-store, online or by downloading the app.
