Belmont blokes hit the jackpot

The start of the working week has been made easier for an engineering syndicate in Belmont, named as the lucky First Division winners of last weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

The group have been regular Saturday Lotto players for the past seven years, with their commitment paying off after purchasing the winning ticket from The Lucky Charm Canning Vale. The Belmont based group are set to share the prize of $574,474.

Most of the syndicate were already out on Saturday night when information of their good fortune came through. The men said they felt shock and disbelief when one syndicate member called to let them know the good news.

“The news certainly helped us to celebrate a little bit harder,” one member said.

“I asked him over the phone if he was sure and he said he was shaking.

“I ended up checking the ticket around four times myself.”

The prize is set to go towards paying off bills, a new boat, and an array of holiday plans, with one member declaring he’ll be upgrading his planned trip to Europe.

Owner of The Lucky Charm Canning Vale, Ruth Fortune, said the store had a couple of big winners in recent weeks, but was pleased to secure a Division One winning ticket.

“Lotterywest tried to call us at 6:40am on Sunday morning, so I knew something was up,” she said.

“It’s really nice to know that we have sold a winning ticket.

“Hopefully our good luck continues going forward.”

It’s been a sensational week for Western Australian ticket holders, with two 1st Prize Set for Life tickets produced on Sunday.

Lotterywest HQ is waiting to meet the winners, who will each take home $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.

The two 1st Prize tickets for Set for Life were sold from Glenview Lottery Centre in Ballajura and Lotterywest Membership online.

Set for Life draws take place every night of the week. Players can start their 7 day Set for Life entry on any day and tickets start from just $8.40!
