Albany syndicate of 22 celebrate $10 million Lotto win

Western Australia’s $10 million OZ lotto winners have been revealed as a 22 member syndicate from Albany.

Each syndicate member will walk away with a $457,000 prize, after the winning ticket also picked up a few other Divisions bringing the total prize pay out to $10,068,267.

The close mates said the syndicate started four years ago over coffee.

“We were all strangers back then but have almost become like a family now,” one member said.

“We started a daily coffee club and meet most mornings to enjoy a cup of coffee together and throw in $10 each for our weekly Lotto tickets.”

The members said it was a mix of shock and disbelief once news of the win started to spread.

“Some of us were literally jumping in excitement,” one member said.

“It felt like a dream! Actually it still does.”

Plans for the 22 winners include early retirement, paying off mortgages and helping family.

“I can now put my daughter through university – it just makes life a whole lot easier,” one member added.

The winning ticket, purchased from Clark’s Newsagency in Albany, is the second equal largest Lotto prize won in Western Australia so far this year.
