A $1 million lunch break

A woman in her 60’s has had a lunch break to remember after discovering she was the owner of a Wednesday Lotto ticket worth $1 million.

The ticket from Nextra Cloisters in Perth’s CBD matched the six winning numbers in last Wednesday’s draw.

Unaware of her fortune, the winner said she went to buy a ticket for another draw on her lunch break, but remembered she had an old ticket to check.

“All of a sudden I was asked to come out the back,” she said.

“I thought I might have won a couple of thousand dollars, but then I discovered it was a Division One prize.”

The winner said she will now take some time to think about what to do next.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said eyes have now turned to next Saturday’s $20 million Superdraw.

“We would love to add to our growing tally of 45 Division One winners so far this year,” Ms Compagnone said.

“Our last Superdraw in July saw one Perth couple collect $2 million so here’s hoping WA strikes Superdraw luck once again.”

WA players are also contributing to Lotterywest’s COVID-19 Relief Fund, with all available profits made from Lotterywest tickets directed to the Fund.

Tickets are available in-store, online or via the app until 6pm next Saturday 5 September.
