“Even the dog knows I won” says WA’s newest millionaire

An aged care worker has come forward as the owner of a Saturday Lotto ticket sold from Newsxpress Whitford City worth almost $1.5 million.

The woman in her 30’s admitted she only started playing Lotterywest games in the past few months, with her decision swiftly paying off.

“I checked the ticket after work and it said I was a winner. It didn’t say how much, so I got the retailer to help me check it,” she said.

“I was in shock when I got home and I just screamed, even the dog knows I’m a winner now.”

A new house, car and holiday make up her winners list, with plans to continue in her role as a carer for the elderly.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said the search is still on for two more WA millionaires.

“We’re waiting to hear from two Saturday Lotto Division One winners from December, both those tickets are worth more than $1 million,” Mr Mooney said.

“One of the tickets was bought on a Lotterywest membership online account while the other one was sold in Ballajura.

“The fact our most recent winner has only started playing Lotterywest games in the last few months is proof it can happen to anyone at any time.”

Lotterywest is unique in Australia and exists to raise money for local community groups that benefit the entire Western Australian community.
