‘I’m hanging up my hi-vis’: says WA’s latest $1.4 million Megadraw winner

While others are lining up to secure a ticket in tonight’s $40 million OZ Lotto jackpot –
Lotterywest HQ has had a steady stream of new millionaires lining up to claim their
winnings today.

Four of the five Division 1 Megadraw winners from the weekend have already come
forward to each collect their $1.4 million prize.

First to be welcomed in the ‘Winners Room’ was a Willetton family of four who hadn’t had
a wink of sleep since finding out about their win.

“Everyone freaked out – we’ve literally had about two hours sleep since Saturday night,”
the father said.

“At one stage I gave up trying.”

The family said on the top of their Lotto wish list was a desperately needed new car.

“What’s wrong with our car – it’s more a case of what’s right with it?” the father said.

“I can now treat myself to a manly car that can actually fit us all in,” he laughed.

The winning ticket was purchased from The Lucky Charm Newsagency Willetton.

Following closely behind was a FIFO worker from Wundowie who planned to hang up his
high-vis after collecting his $1.4 million prize.

He’d purchased the lucky winner from Forrestfield Marketplace News.

“I nearly choked on my can of JD and coke when I found out,” he said.

“This win means more time with my wife and kids after really struggling to be away from
them,” he added.

“FIFO just about nailed me – it was a choice between my health and the money,” he said.

Also claiming their Division 1 Lotto prize today was a middle aged couple from Hillarys
who bought their ticket from Whitford City Lottery Centre and an Aveley woman in her 40s
who picked up her winning ticket from Nextra Express Ellenbrook.

Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from the winning ticket sold at Helena Estate Pharmacy
and News.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Pina Compagnone said Lotto fever was set to continue this
week – with a $40 million OZ Lotto jackpot tonight and a $35 million Powerball jackpot on
Thursday.

“We ended 2017 with 70 WA Division 1 Lotto winners sharing in over $130 million,” said
Ms Compagnone.

“Here’s hoping our 2018 tally of winners kicks-off tonight.”

WA players have until 6pm jackpot day to buy their tickets in-store, online and through the app.
