Collecting your prize

So you've won a prize... First of all, congrats!

Now that it’s time for you to collect, here’s some information on how it works.

Collecting a prize up to and including $500?
If you have a physical ticket, prizes up to and including $500 can be collected from any Lotterywest store*. For online, self-serve kiosk or app purchases, your winnings will be paid directly into your e-wallet or nominated financial account.

I can’t get to a store or Lotterywest Head Office to claim my prize at the moment. What do I do?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve made some temporary changes to our prize claim period for tickets with draw dates on or after 16 March 2019, so you have more time and options to claim your prize. These changes are detailed below.

If 12 months has passed, please submit a prize claim form by email or post to Lotterywest prior to 16 March 2021.

Lotterywest stores can pay out prizes up to and including $500, within 24 months of the draw date.

Winners can also submit a prize claim form by email or post until further notice if they choose.

Keep your winning tickets in a safe place, away from the elements, until you’re ready to claim your prize.

Once processed, your winnings will be paid directly into your nominated financial account unless you attend Lotterywest Head Office where up to $10,000 can be paid by EFTPOS.

Until 15 March 2021, we have also made changes to how you can claim your prize. You can always continue to claim prizes up to and including $500 at a Lotterywest store. However if you are unable to claim your prize at a Lotterywest store or Lotterywest head office because of the COVID-19 emergency circumstances, you can email or post a copy of your ticket to us, together with a prize claim form. If you’re submitting a prize claim form for a winning ticket via email, please refer to this guide. You will need to provide evidence of your identity, your bank account details and complete the statement affirming that the ticket is valid and that you are entitled to claim the prize. You will need to keep your winning ticket until Lotterywest has confirmed that your claim has been processed.

If you send your winning ticket in the post make sure you keep a scanned copy or photograph of your ticket.

Collecting a prize over $500?
For prize claims over $500, winnings can be claimed at Lotterywest Head Office during office hours, or by submitting a prize claim form. If you attend Lotterywest Head Office, Lotterywest can pay up to $10,000 via EFTPOS. Alternatively, prizes can be paid directly into your bank account when you provide your BSB and account number. Unfortunately we are unable to pay prizes in cash. For online, self-serve kiosk or app purchases (excluding Division 1), your winnings will be paid directly into your e-wallet or nominated financial account unless claimed within 35 days. 

Collecting a Division 1 prize?

Top Prizes must be claimed at Lotterywest Head Office during office hours. All Division 1 prizes are subject to a 14 day validation period. To claim a Division 1 prize, you must present at Lotterywest Head Office within 24 months of the draw. Bring with you the winning ticket together with information which will confirm your identity and place of residence.

Scratch'n'Win prizes
Make sure you read the play instructions on the back of the ticket to check for each game. This will help you identify if you're a winner! If you're not sure if your ticket has won a prize, visit us in-store to use a ticket checker or ask the retailer to check for you. Your retailer will scan the ticket barcode, which will instantly advise if your ticket is a winner. If you are unable to attend a retail outlet or the Lotterywest Head Office during the emergency period (until 15 March 2021) due to the COVID-19 emergency circumstances you can claim your prize by submitting a prize claim form as set out above. All Scratch’n’Win Top Prizes of $5,000 or more are subject to a 14 day validation period.

What happens to unclaimed prizes?
Unclaimed prizes are returned to the WA community through Lotterywest grants.

Ensure you don't miss out on winnings
The benefit of being a Lotterywest member is that when you purchase a physical ticket in-store, prizes are automatically paid into your nominated bank account after 35 days. For Lotterywest members that purchase tickets online or via the self-serve kiosk or app, winnings are automatically paid into your e-wallet or nominated financial account.
