Lights, camera, action!

We were pleased to bring together Lotterywest retailers, Screenwest and Artrage for a special screening of the Screenwest funded comedy, The Naked Wanderer. The evening was a celebration of our record sales in 2018-19, thanks to our retailers.

Guests nestled into beanbags under the rainbow lights of the Girls School Cinema and were welcomed by newly appointed Artrage CEO Sharon Burgess, followed by Screenwest CEO Willie Rowe.

Both highlighted the importance of celebrating Western Australian stories through creative industries and thanked retailers for their part in the support Lotterywest provides these organisations, which have collectively spanned more than 40 years.

“Our unique partnership is really quite special and I think all of us in this room understand, most of the festivals and arts organisations simply wouldn’t exist without Lotterywest’s vital assistance,” Willie Rowe said.

The Naked Wanderer perfectly captures the natural beauty of WA’s coastline and the classic Aussie sense of humour. We were lucky to have the director of The Naked Wanderer, Alan Lindsay, with us to share his story with our retailers.

Carolyn and Andrew from Gingin IGA X-press said they thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

"It was great to see how and where some of the Lotterywest money is reinvested back into the community and the movie was very entertaining,” they said.

Lotterywest support for Screenwest and Artrage is only possible through the efforts of our more than 500 retailers across WA.
