Mum defies the odds
A single Mum from Perth’s eastern suburbs said life had always been a financial struggle raising two children on her own – but it was all about to change for the better after claiming her $20 million Powerball prize in March.
She said she would remain a ‘Plain Jane’ and the huge prize was not going to make her a snob.
“The future’s looking stress-free, peaceful and fun,” she said.
Coffee club of riches
A 22 member syndicate from Albany were revealed as the party behind a $10 million OZ Lotto win in October. The close mates said the syndicate started four years ago over coffee.
Plans for the 22 winners include early retirement, paying off mortgages and helping family, with each syndicate member walking away with a $457,000 prize.

Heart-warming win of the year
A train driver with a heart of gold finally came forward in October to claim his $408,233 Saturday Lotto prize, almost a month after the draw. The man from the City of Cockburn said he always has his Lotto tickets in his wallet but never really pays attention to the draw dates or numbers.
He’d been caring for his mum who’s been battling cancer for the last five months and said the big win had brought a burst of energy to the close knit family.
“As a family we often talk about what it would be like to win and now we’re experiencing it and it feels great!” he said.
Double the luck
A hard-working couple from Collie claimed a mid-week $1 million prize in August, which unbelievably was their second Division One win in just 12 months! The couple were part of a winning Saturday Lotto syndicate last year where they walked also away with over $160,000.
Both in their 50’s, they plan to build their dream house, buy a new car and finally take their honeymoon after ten years of marriage.
“I never imagined we’d win twice but I always wish for good luck with every ticket I buy and it paid off!”
