$100k to support innovative epilepsy action

Did you know that around 20,000 Western Australians currently live with epilepsy?

To ensure those impacted by epilepsy get the best support possible, Lotterywest is proud to be supporting Epilepsy Action Australia with a $100,000 grant to help establish the My Epilepsy Key online educational resource in WA.

The My Epilepsy Key resource is provided in USB format and contains information and special resources for people living with epilepsy. When plugged into a computer it will provide access to numerous programs, tools and documents for support and education. This means that these resources can be available to all, especially those in remote and rural areas who may not be near to specialised service centres. Clever, right?!

Jacquie Thomson, General Manager of Grants and Community Development at Lotterywest, said the project will help change the lives of thousands of people living with epilepsy in WA.

“This innovative resource – which brings together epilepsy education and management resources online in one easily accessible place – will help to reduce epilepsy stigma as well as educate and empower individuals impacted by epilepsy,” Ms Thomson.

"Thanks to our Lotterywest players and retailers, Epilepsy Action Australia’s goal of providing one Key to every person or family affected by epilepsy is becoming a reality,” she added.
