Heathridge wins half a million

Western Australia has welcomed its first Division One winner for the new financial year after taking home just over half a million dollars in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto daw.

Lotterywest can reveal that the winning ticket, worth $503,668, was sold at the Heathridge Newsagency; however the winner is yet to come forward.

Owners of the store, Cindy and Kevin Van Wereld, were ecstatic to have sold their second Division One winning ticket in just a few years, following a $1.2 million winning ticket sold at the store in 2015.

“It’s something we always hope for with every ticket we sell and we wish for it every single week,” said Cindy.

She said their 2015 winner took five weeks to come forward.

“Hopefully it won’t take as long this time,” she added.

Over 75,800 other WA players picked up a prize in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw, including eight Division Two winners who each collected almost $8,000.

The unclaimed Division One ticket is amongst eight winners nation-wide to share in the $4 million prize pool. It brings WA’s tally of Division One winners so far this year to 29.

Thanks to those that play Lotterywest games, in the last five years 134 grants have been provided to community organisations within the City of Joondalup, the same area which Heathridge Newsagency is located. These grants have totalled over $7.3 million.

For those after a big win, a combined $35 million worth of jackpots is up for grabs for this week.

It all starts tomorrow night with OZ Lotto’s $15 million jackpot and then Powerball will offer a $20 million jackpot on Thursday.

Tickets are available until 6pm jackpot day from Lotterywest in-store, online or through the app.
