Kelmscott syndicate winners roll up ahead of $20 million jackpot

The Lotterywest Winner's Room is off to a busy week, thanks to a 15-member syndicate win from Kelmscott Newsagency.

The store sold a Saturday Lotto Division One prize that’s now worth more than $1 million.

Five of the syndicate members have wasted no time making their way to Lotterywest HQ to claim their prize, worth almost $69,000 each.

One of the winners, a woman from Camillo, said she only plays syndicates and couldn’t believe her fortune after discovering the win.

“Yeah right were the first words to come out of my mouth,” she said.

“I initially thought I’d won $150 and was in absolute shock when the prize was confirmed to be almost $69,000,” she said.

Another syndicate winner, an Armadale couple, said they kept checking their ticket in disbelief.

“I was so overwhelmed that we were checking the winning numbers on our computer and I forgot how to shut down the computer, I had to turn it off at the plug,” the woman said.

“When it comes to our family, it’s all about helping one another, although we might use a bit of it on some maintenance to the family home.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said it was great to see the Winner’s Room full of WA players.

“It’s always exciting welcoming local players into the Winner’s Room and we’re hoping we can greet another WA winner following tonight’s $20 million OZ Lotto jackpot,” she said.

There are still 10 shares from the weekend’s Division One winning syndicate yet to be claimed.

Tickets for the $20 million OZ Lotto jackpot are available until 6pm today from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.

Over the last month of OZ Lotto jackpotting, close to $2 million has been raised for the WA community.
