Kelmscott syndicate celebrate million-dollar Lotto win

A 15-member syndicate sold at Kelmscott Newsagency has shared in a Division One prize from the weekend worth just over $1 million.

Each syndicate share, all currently unclaimed, is set to take home a prize of almost $69,000.

Owners of the store Jimesh and Urvi Shah, said some of the winners have been playing the syndicate since it started almost five years ago.

“Those of our customers that have been playing this syndicate since it started also helped us to choose the numbers which we have kept the same over the years,” Mr Shah said.

“My wife and I are just so happy that the win has gone to some of our most loyal customers.”

Mr Shah said prior to the million-dollar win, his store had produced four Division Two tickets in the last seven weeks.

“Every second week we were selling a Division Two ticket so we had a strong feeling a bigger win was imminent,” he said.

WA’s tally of Division One prizes for 2020 has now reached 65, with these players sharing in close to $80 million.

The good news from Saturday’s draw didn’t stop with just the Kelmscott syndicate, with a range of Division Two prizes produced at:

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said the next big chance for local players to win big was in tomorrow night’s $20 million OZ Lotto jackpot.

“It was only less than a month ago that a Joondalup mother picked up Division One on the game,” she said.

Tickets are available until 6pm tomorrow from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.

Over the last month of OZ Lotto jackpotting, close to $2 million has been raised for the WA community.
