Husband gives wife $740k Lotto surprise

A Landsdale husband with a history of playing jokes on his wife has landed his biggest one yet, thanks to a Saturday Lotto Division One prize.

His ticket, from Darch Plaza Newsagency, was one of four Division One tickets sold in WA for Saturday’s Superdraw and is now worth more than $740,000.

After discovering his win, rather than telling his wife immediately the man, in his 60’s, decided to surprise her in his own unique way.

“I picked my wife up from work and said I needed her help to collect something from Subiaco,” he said.

“At first I said we were going to look at a camper trailer.”

Only when the couple entered Lotterywest’s Winners Room to be told their ticket was a Division One prize did she realise she had fallen victim to another one of her husband’s practical jokes.

“He’s full of tricks, but this would have to be his best one yet,” she said.

The couple said the win has now set up their retirement and they plan to holiday throughout Western Australia.

The next chance for Western Australians to win big is Thursday’s $30 million Powerball draw.

All available profits from Lotterywest tickets contribute to the COVID-19 Relief Fund which will help those in the community impacted.
