Fish and chip run returns $1 million

A Murdoch couple who stuck with the same numbers for more than 40 years are now the owners of a Saturday Lotto Division One prize worth more than $1 million.

During a trip down south, they grabbed a Saturday Lotto ticket from Central News Bunbury for the Boxing Day draw.

“I went to buy some fish and chips, so my wife checked the ticket,” the winner said.

While he was out picking up dinner, his wife discovered they had all six winning numbers.

“At first I thought you had to have the supplementary numbers as well as the six,” she said.

The winner’s said they will share their prize with family.

“I think quite a few people will benefit from this,” he said.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said the other Division One prize from Saturday’s draw sold from Albany Lottery News and Gifts, remains unclaimed.

“It’s fantastic to see more WA winners claim a life changing prize as we close out 2020,” Mr Mooney said.

“There’s still time to grab tickets for the $30 million Megadraw this Saturday which are available from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.”

Thanks to those that purchase Lotterywest tickets, all available profits are returned to support the WA community.
