Early Christmas cheer for young WA couple

There’s another millionaire in Western Australia, thanks to Wednesday Lotto.

A Baldivis couple’s ticket from The Lucky Charm in Rockingham matched the numbers in Wednesday’s draw and is now worth $1 million.

When the couple, in their 30s, finally realised they had the right numbers after checking their ticket numerous times. They said they planned to pay off their mortgage and help extended family.

“I looked up the numbers online, when I got to the third line I thought ‘what the?’” the winner said.

“This win is going to help a lot of families and Christmas is going to be different now, but in a good way.”

The good news follows Saturday’s draw which saw a ticket from Coolbellup Newsagency sell a ticket that’s now worth $2 million.

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said Wednesday’s win now meant WA had produced 64 Division One winners in 2020

“We’re hoping to see another millionaire following tonight’s $20 million Powerball draw,” Ms Coleman said.

Tickets for tonight’s $20 million Powerball draw are available until 6pm from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.

By playing with WA's official lottery, $292 million has been given back to the WA community in the past financial year through its grants program.

As the only State Government owned and operated lottery in Australia where all the profits are returned to the community, Lotterywest is committed to supporting Western Australians in this time of need.
