Dream win for Treendale scratchie winner

A woman from Treendale literally followed her dreams when she bought a $100,000 winning Scratch’n’Win ticket.

The $100,000 prize on the $5 Crazy 7’s Doubler ticket is the biggest scratchie win in Western Australia so far this year.

The retail worker in her 50s, said a dream just a few days earlier about winning a jackpot led her to ‘splurge a little’ and buy the ticket.

She said she was shocked to find she’d revealed the $100,000 prize whilst she was home alone and began crying and shaking.

“I called my daughter to tell her,” she said.

“My daughter didn’t believe me and told me to go to the newsagent first before I got too excited.”

The trip to newsXpress Treendale proved worthwhile, with staff letting her know she needed to make the almost two-hour drive to claim the prize at Lotterywest Head Office.

She said she’ll be paying off debt, helping her family and investing the rest, but not before making a surprise visit on a holiday in Asia to visit a relative.

“I’m debt free now,” she exclaimed.

“It feels really good to say that!”

When asked what she’ll do to celebrate her win, the Treendale resident laughed and said she’ll be taking a nap.

“I didn’t sleep a wink last night,” she said.

“I even slept with my purse under my pillow to protect the ticket.”

NewsXpress Treendale, the store which sold the winning ticket, has been open in the suburb just two weeks.

Owner of newsXpress Treendale, Neville McDonald, said the win was a fantastic addition, with the store already receiving a welcome response from locals.

“Locals are really happy to have a Lotterywest store in the area and we’re happy to be here!” he said.

“We’re pretty lucky already but this win gives us a fantastic feeling.

“Knowing the win will change the life of a deserving person is great.”

Scratch’n’Win tickets start from as little as $1 and are the perfect gift when you have no idea what to buy that special someone, close friend, work mate, second cousin or friendly neighbour. Simply visit a Lotterywest store to pick one up today.

Last financial year, Lotterywest players contributed to more than $260 million being returned to the Western Australian community.
