A Perth street is having one hell of a party after claiming a Division One ticket in the New Year’s Eve $40 million Megadraw.
The syndicate ticket, worth over $2.3 million, will be shared among 12 neighbours and friends who all live on the same street. Each share is worth just over $196.000.
All those who were part of the syndicate were celebrating New Year’s Eve together before the organiser ducked home to check the winning numbers only to realise they’d won Division One.
“I told my kids, called my husband and told them we’ve won, I couldn’t believe it,” she said.
“My husband called everyone over to our place and told them we’d won a couple of hundred dollars and they were happy with that, but when he told them we’d won a couple of hundred thousand dollars each, they thought he was lying, everyone was so shocked.
“We could hardly sleep that night and most of us haven’t slept properly since.”
It’s the second Division One ticket sold by Ballajura News in 2021, owner Ritaben Aghera was delighted to sell another winning ticket in the final draw of the year.
“We had a wonderful 2021, our customers were very supportive and we hope to continue our success producing more Division One wins in 2022.”
The Megadraw produced another WA Division One winner from Lotterywest Online.
Thanks to those players across the State who purchased tickets in the Megadraw, over $7 million was raised for the WA community through Lotterywest grants.
Lotterywest spokesperson Nikki Brown said it was great to see another Division One syndicate win.
“December appeared to be the month for syndicate wins, with this latest one Friday night, and also an $80 million Powerball win in early December where 55 ladies shared in the entire Division One prize pool,” she said.
“There’s more chances of becoming a millionaire with tomorrow night’s $60 million Powerball jackpot and this weekend’s special $10 million Saturday Lotto event.
“Here’s hoping either of these draws will produce the State’s first Division One winner for 2022!”
