‘We’re not materialistic’: say WA’s latest Lotto winners

A young couple from Success who have come forward to claim their $2.1 million Lotto prize from the weekend have described themselves as down to earth and far from elaborate.

“We’re not materialistic and just enjoy the simple things in life,” they said.

“This win won’t change us but it will certainly change our lives by making it financially stress free,” the man added.

The couple, who purchased their winning ticket from Gateways News and Lottery Centre, was one of two national Division 1 Lotto winners from last Saturday’s Lotto draw.

They said while the win would help to pay off their house mortgage, they had no plans to move or even stop working.

“We’re happy right where we are but at least now we can put in that swimming pool we’ve been desperately saving for,” the man laughed.

WA’s tally of Division 1 Lotto winners for the year has reached 10.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said these winners have shared in almost $15 million in prize money.

“It seems Western Australia has kicked off 2018 on a run of big winners – we’re averaging more than one Division 1 Lotto win each week,” Ms Compagnone said.

“For those players looking for the next chance to win big, there’s a $10 million OZ Lotto jackpot up for grabs tonight,” she added.

Tickets for tonight’s jackpot are available until 6pm from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.

When you play Lotterywest games, you’re also contributing to a better WA with a third of money spent directed back to supporting the local community. Last financial year this totalled over $265 million.
