Our support in 2015/16: $16.3 million
Lotterywest maintains a strong relationship with the Department of Sport and Recreation, and through a statutory allocation of $16.3 million in 2015/16 (5% of net subscriptions), supports sporting clubs and associations throughout the State to deliver a diverse range of programs in the community.
The Department’s use of these funds is to encourage people to enjoy the benefits of sport and recreation on their health and well-being and to build stronger communities. With our continued support, tens of thousands of individuals, from young children to adults enjoy a diverse range of club sports. Western Australians enjoy the social, physical and psychological benefits of engaging in sport and recreational activities.
We take great pride in the achievement of our elite athletes, and a major beneficiary of the revenue provided for sporting organisations by the Department of Sport and Recreation is the WA Institute of Sport, which supports the development and delivery of programs for Western Australia’s top athletes.
