WA's popular Powerball spots revealed ahead of $30 million jackpot
After six weeks with no one in the nation being able to match the Division One winning numbers, Powerball has jackpotted to $30 million.
This is the first time since last June the game has jackpotted to this amount, with many local players lining up for their chance to pick up the 'big prize'.
Lotterywest has revealed some of the most popular spots that players have been flocking to for their tickets.
In the metro area, Perth's CBD, Morley, Cloverdale and Midland have proved hot spots, while in regional Western Australia Bunbury, Geraldton, Karratha and Kalgoorlie are popular with players.
"It's been a great start for Lotto in Western Australia with eight Division One winners sharing in $5.8 million worth of prizes in January. We hope February will follow this run of good luck," said Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone.
Powerball has provided Western Australian Lotto players with some memorable wins in the past.
This includes a married couple in their 30s from Perth's southern suburbs who claimed a $30 million Powerball Division One prize in 2001 - the highest Division One prize to be given away in Western Australia's history.
Then in October last year, a mother and son from Clarkson struck it lucky when they collected a $6 million Powerball prize. They said the multi-million dollar win could not have come at a better time with the Clarkson mother only weeks away from losing her home.
Tickets for tomorrow night's $30 million Powerball jackpot are available until 5pm tomorrow from any Lotterywest retailer across the State, or from the Lotterywest Play Online service at www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au
With 34 cents in every $1 spent on this draw returned to support our State's hospitals, sports and arts groups, and thousands of charitable and community groups - all Western Australians will ultimately benefit.
Tomorrow night's draw is expected to raise an estimated $1.7 million for the Western Australian community.
