WA winners rolling in
It's been a busy few days in the Lotterywest Winners' Room with three local players coming forward to officially claim Division 1 Lotto prizes. First through the door was a young family from Halls Head who collected their $602,183 prize from a Saturday Lotto draw held on 20 December.
The family, who purchased their winning ticket from their local retailer newsXpress Halls Head, said they had been too excited to sleep!
"All we wanted was enough money to buy our dream home and pay off the mortgage and now we can do that. It will also give us more time to spend with our family," they said.
Next to visit the Winners' Room were two Division 1 Lotto winners from regional WA who struck lucky in the Saturday Lotto draw held on 13 December.
One of these winners was a single mother from the Great Southern region claiming a $409,216 Division 1 Lotto prize. Her winning ticket was bought from South Hedland Newsagency.
"I was in shock, shaking and crying when I found out the news. I didn't know what to do, I was in a daze," she said.
The single mother said she could now buy a family home and put some of the money away to help her children in the future.
The other regional winner was a man from the south of Kalgoorlie.
"I wasn't planning on buying a Lotto ticket that day and nearly walked past the outlet when I thought why not, I might as well," the man said.
The man plans on celebrating his big win by renewing his vows with his wife.
"We'll also splurge on a holiday around Australia and beyond! Our kids will have a bit more in their bank accounts too," he said.
Only days to go before the $30 million Megadraw!
There's still time to get tickets in this weekend's $30 million Megadraw which will take place on Saturday 3 January.
Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said it's one of the biggest Lotto draws of the year.
"We're expecting the Megadraw will capture the imagination of Lotto players across the State with close to 1.8 million tickets in WA estimated to be sold in the draw," she said.
Tickets are available from Lotterywest retailers across the State or from Play Online at www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au until 6pm on Saturday.
It's not just thousands of WA winners that will benefit from the Megadraw with Lotterywest expecting to raise close to $9 million from the draw to support the WA community.
