WA's 2015 winning streak continues with another Division 1 Lotto win
For the fifth time in just over a week another WA resident has taken home a Division 1 Lotto prize.
A ticket worth $440,441.71 in the weekend's Soccer Pools draw was sold at Atwell Newsagency and was the only Division 1 winner in the State.
In less than four years Atwell Newsagency has sold four Division 1 winning tickets to happy customers with the prizes amounting to $1,124,088.99.
This is the third Division 1 winning Soccer Pools ticket the newsagency has sold since July 2011. The owner of Atwell Newsagency, Yi Li believes her store is the Soccer Pools hot spot and thinks the win will set the scene for a year of good luck.
"We most certainly are a lucky store - we can't wait to share the news of the win with our customers and keep the good fortune flowing," said Yi.
A family from Atwell has taken home the winnings after visiting Lotterywest Head Office early this morning.
Before the unemployed father had even checked the ticket he felt they had struck 'the big one'.
"I was relieved when my hunch was confirmed; we can pay off a lot of bills now!"
The grateful winners said that they will continue life as normal but plan to give a little extra to their regular charities.
"It's a good way to start the year," said the mother.
It's not just good news for WA winners following a Lotto draw, with the local community benefiting from funds raised. From each dollar spent on Lotterywest games, 33 cents is directed back to support the WA community.
The City of Cockburn recently received a Lotterywest grant of $100,000 towards the construction of a trail to provide access for two lookouts across Jervois Bay and Cockburn Sound.
